Themes, Tools & Copyright

INTRODUCTION

I have chosen three themes which are Sport & Recreation, Religion and Entertainment for my project because I believe that they provide the best expression of Banbridge.

1. Religion - the reason I have chosen religion is because Banbridge is known by its beautiful chapels which present a top architectural achievements.

2. Entertainment - for the entertainment I have chosen a local cinema that uses the most advanced techniques to present the movies to the viewer which is 3D, not every cinema can provide this kind of experience.

3. Sport & Recreation - for this theme I have chosen a local swimming pool that is a great place of recreation where many people come to visit and spend their time usefuly.

What techniques did you use?

I took these photographs to promote their town of origin which is Banbridge in a travel booklet. Their purpose is to provide people with greater knowledge of the beauty of Banbridge and what it has to offer in terms of turism. I have used many different techniques to edit the above images. These techniques involve: cut, copy & paste, crop, resize, filter, blending options etc.

Choice of colour and mood

I have chosen warm set of colour for my pictures because I used the types of themes that in my oppinion represent the summer time and happiness.

Graphics

I am quite satisfied with the final outcome of the three images I have made. The graphical part is quite rich in colour and content. However, if I had to do this task all over again I would definitely add more effects to the images which would definitely improve their quality.

Legal Implications of Graphics Creation

The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 is t he current UK copyright law. It gives the creators of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works the right to control the ways in which their material may be used. Copyright arises when an individual or organisation creates a work, and applies to a work if it is regarded as original, and exhibits a degree of labour, skill or judgement.

How would you protect your graphics work? What would you do?

In order to protect my graphics work I could add my own trademark to the image in terms of a signature, logo or a watermark.

Did you create all your own original designs? Did you source images or materials from Internet source and are they copyright free? Will your images be inclusive and not offend any particular groups?

I have taken a picture of most of my images while the others are scanned from a book. However, I have sourced one image from the web but it did not have any copyright laws on it, so I was free to use it. The images I have used in this project are fully copyright free and no party will be offended by any of the images I've made.
